RPI has added database analysis services to its suite of reimbursement-focused offerings. We invite you to speak with us regarding your specific data requirements to determine if a custom data solution can be developed for your product or procedure.

In response to increased client requests for facility-specific, reimbursement –focused sales tools, RPI has developed what it refers to as 'Economic Calculators'.

While RPI's Economic Calculators are custom-designed for each client opportunity, a typical Calculator uses basic facility input (e.g., Medicare ID; purchase price of relevant medical equipment) to calculate facility-specific net revenue resulting from use of client's vs. competitors' products in relevant medical procedures.

To date we have developed Economic Calculators fueled by CMS' MedPAR and OPPS databases, enabling real-time, facility-specific look-up of actual Medicare payments associated with specific MS-DRGs and APCs of interest. The Calculators are typically developed within Access databases, but can also be combined with PowerPoint presentations, or even developed into iPad application for use by client sales representatives or other appropriate personnel.

Because our Calculators are designed to meet each client's specific needs, the interface and the output can be very simple or more complex.

RPI has detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and Working Practice Documents (WPDs) governing the development of MedPAR-based and OPPS-based economic calculators. Our SOPs and WPDs detail RPI's development process from start (i.e., data and Calculator updates). As RPI's economic calculator service expands to include use of additional databases, additional SOPs and WPDs will be developed accordingly.
